Houmas House Plantation Tour | Gray Line New Orleans

Houmas House Plantation Tour

Voted Best Historic Mansion by USA Today

Experience the peaceful serenity and striking beauty of this Historic Mansion and Gardens, unlike any other plantation home in the South. The focus of this plantation is on the architectural and agriculture signifigance of this property.   As it is a fair new property opened to guests, crowds are less and you will have plenty of time and space to enjoy the experience.

Travel back in time to the 1800's as a local guide takes you on a journey through the Houmas Mansion, where you will view original artwork, rare antiques, and original pieces from the 1830s.

Learn how a succession of owners, the sugarcane business and the Mississippi River grew this modest manor house into the grand estate it is today.

Situated on River Road between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, this treasure of time offers you glimpses into life on a plantation.

Relax as you explore at your leisure 38 breathtaking acres of lush, manicured gardens mixed with various water features, walking paths, and secluded sitting nooks throughout.

Numerous movies have been filmed on this estate since 1964, including Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte, and Green Book.

Unique twin garconnières (bachelor apartments) are a rare feature among plantation homes.

Marvel at the beautiful free-standing, three-story helix staircase.
