Christmas Eve to Remember!

November 11 2013 | Whats New

With so many visitors coming to New Orleans for the holidays, Gray Line New Orleans developed a special look at local traditions for our guests…the lighting of the bonfires on the banks of the Mississippi River!  The Bonfire Adventure Tour includes round-trip narrated motor coach transportation and a guided tour of the San Francisco Plantation, built in 1855 and reported to be the most opulent plantation house in North America. It is a galleried house of the Creole open suite style, nestled under centuries old Live Oaks and contains one of the finest antique collections in the country.  The house inspired the novel “Steamboat Gothic” written by Frances Parkinson Keyes. A traditional Christmas dinner will be served on the property with a Cash Bar (wine & beer) available.

A police escort will then accompany our “sleigh of coaches” to view the bonfires that light the way for Papa Noel (our Cajun Santa Claus) to bayou country.  For many years this Cajun community has built mammoth wooden structures such as cabins, tepees, & riverboats along the Mississippi River levee.  Come see the "feux de joie" (fires of joy)! [Some walking is necessary.]  Call our Reservation staff to make a reservation (504-569-1401).
