Etienne, lead guide for Gray Line’s Ghost Tour, points to relics in a new exhibit in the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. For more, log onto Gray Line New Orleans on You Tube and search for “Ghost Tour.”

The Bourbon Orleans is considered one of the most haunted hotels in America’s spookiest city. Etienne knows its history. Built as a theater and ballroom, it was the center of French Quarter social life for decades. Legendary Quadroon balls and political rallies with Andrew Jackson took place there. In 1880, as if to quell a storied past, it became a convent. The ballroom is one of the oldest in the United States.

The new case, in a hall that once held a carriageway, holds opera glasses from the theater, implements of Voodoo, a vampire slaying kit, and images of local séances. Yvonne, Lori, Etienne and Michael – the Ghost Team – tour the hotel lobby every night.
