Christmas Eve Bonfire Adventure Tour

Return to » Holiday Tours

Your tour guide will entertain you with a history of plantation country and serve eggnog as you travel to the oldest documented plantation home in the Lower Mississippi Valley.

This narrated motor coach tour includes a guided tour of Destrehan, the original "indigo" plantation along River Road, where guests will view the art of open hearth cooking and a period craft demonstration. A traditional "Cajun Country" Christmas dinner will be served on the grounds of Destrehan. A police escort will then accompany our "sleigh of coaches" to view the bonfires that light the way for Papa Noel (our Cajun Santa Claus) to bayou country.

For many years this Cajun community has built mammoth wooden structures such as cabins, tepees, & riverboats along the Mississippi River levee.

Come see the "feux de joie" (fires of joy)! Some walking is necessary. Dress is casual; please wear comfortable shoes. Price includes the guided motor coach tour, egg nog served en route to the plantation, a guided plantation tour, dinner, taxes and meal gratuities. In order to arrive timely for the lighting of the bonfires, dinner will be served as early as 3:15pm. Advance guaranteed reservations required - call early.
